Knowing God
Brock:
Although Brock grew up in a
Bible believing church and continued attending services his first two
years of college, his relationship with God did not develop until his
junior year at Indiana University. Through a Campus Crusade for Christ
Bible study Brock came to trust Christ as his personal Lord and Savior
and began to follow Him. He then spent his last two years of college walking
with Christ and sharing His love and forgiveness with other students.
During Brock's senior
year of college, he came to know that God has called him into
full-time Christian ministry. After considering several Christian
organizations and areas of ministry, he chose to work with Campus
Crusade for Christ because he felt he could use his talents and
gifts to serve God most effectively there. Brock is excited to
serve at his assignment in the National Campus Ministry Office
in Orlando, Florida.
While in the office,
Brock will be using his gifts for computers, finance, organization,
and leadership on the Finance Team to lead and support the outreach
of the campus staff all across the country. As a result of his
work at the national office, the staff on the field will be able
to reach more people for Christ.

Sandi:
I grew up going to church and
would hear about Jesus' sacrificial death on the cross but it didn't become
personal until I was in Junior High. I was first exposed to the Gospel
at a Billy Graham Crusade in Washington DC. I made a public profession
and prayed to receive Christ, but my lifestyle in high school did not
reflect a Spirit filled life. I was not discipled, and prayed to receive
Christ many times until my first year at James Madison University.
I was in a Bible study with
Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was challenged to tell others that
I was going to heaven. I responded by asking, "What right do I have
to tell anyone I am going to heaven?" (I did not know I could be
100% sure) My Bible study leader, shared John 10:27-29 and when I heard
"no one can snatch them out of my hand" I was finally set free
from the works, guilt, shame, and anxiety I had experienced. God used
this assurance of salvation as a firm foundation for growth and deep roots
in His Word.
Ephesians 1:13 was also explained
to me, and I was amazed at how I am "marked IN HIM with a seal, the
promised Holy Spirit WOW!!! He protects me against all who would try and
break the seal!-- amazing! I dug into the Word and the Bible became my
Bread and Water for life and godliness. I had been starved and the satisfaction
had finally come!
This satisfaction in Christ
alone drastically changed my relationships with people and through The
Word, prayer, The Church, and many circumstances. I have learned to depend
upon my Lord and Savior. He is my Bridegroom and meets all of my deepest
needs, He satisfies me with good things, and does immeasurably more than
all I can ask or imagine!
I began leading "huddles"
on FCA retreats and grew to have a heart for high school girls. The first
person that ever prayed to receive Christ with me was on a FCA retreat.
I began to have more of a heart for evangelism and found out about the
missions opportunities with Campus Crusade. I jumped in my junior year
at James Madison and went to retreats, Christmas conferences and "The
Big Break" (an evangelism training conference which is held each
spring).
At the "Big Break"
my junior year, I picked up an application for a summer project to Ocean
City New Jersey and was soon accepted and raising support. I had a very
intense summer. I worked 40 hours a week at McDonald's, was co~director
of outreach, and on servant team. The schedule tested my faith and my
attitude, and I began to see that perseverance and dependence on the Lord's
strength is essential to live in obedience to God. I learned a lot that
summer about my position in Christ and how precious and dearly loved I
am. As my view of God became purer I let go of looking to others for all
of my love and acceptance, and began to mature in His grace.
I was asked to lead an action
group in the fall of my senior year and had to give it up due to my schedule
and preparation for East Asia in the spring. I struggled with boundaries
and I learned a lot about my freedom in Christ and about saying no in
East Asia. I had lived so long under the weight of performance and I entered
the Refiner's fire while I was overseas. All of the dross came right to
the surface for the entire world to see and I could no longer try to convince
anyone that I had it all together.
My team leader in East Asia
taught me about being a success the day I accepted Christ, and used many
Truths from God's Word to replace the lies I had heard my whole life from
Satan and those around me. "But by the grace of God I am what I am,
and His grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all
or them- yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me." I Cor.16:10
became my verse for the summer. I could not deny any longer God's promise
to complete the good work that He began and I was freed from my yoke of
performance.
I now have a sincere vision
for the world and understand John 3:16 like never before. These women
that received the seeds of the Gospel, and an overflow of my walk with
God are now in His care and the care of long term staff in East Asia.
In March of 1995 I was asked
to work as hourly staff in the International Ministries office of Campus
Crusade for Christ. It was to be a three-month temporary position, but
it turned in to a long-term position until I left for China again in the
summer of 1996.
I spent June through August
that year teaching English and sharing Christ's love and truth with women
in South China. It is wonderful to experience their culture and learn
to view God through the eyes and heart of a new Chinese believer.
I believe God is leading me
to the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ because of the heart for
evangelism that I have and the gifts of mercy and desire to proclaim His
Word that He has given. Besides my gifts, I believe Campus Crusade is
one of the most effective vehicles for ministry that I have come across
in my life so far. I have found that each staff person I have met is uniquely
different, yet we all have the same vision- to go to the ends of the earth
and fearlessly proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord. I have enjoyed the
training and experiences that I have received by being a part of Campus
Crusade in the past, and believe this is the most effective way that I
would be able to Glorify God.
